Zynga is to launch World Poker Tour branded tournaments

  • Zynga is to launch World Poker Tour (WPT) branded tournaments through its Zynga Poker product following a new partnership with the Ourgame International-owned poker event organiser. The multi-year partnership will see free-to-play, WPT-themed tournaments launched on Zynga Poker in the second half of the year. The social gaming giant said the partnership would allow it to leverage WPT's presence in multiple channels, such as TV, online and land-based gaming to grow the Zynga Poker franchise, while also promoting the poker franchise.

Zynga’s President of Publishing, Bernard Kim, said, “Our Zynga Poker players are an extremely passionate group who aspire to feel like true poker champions. Our World Poker Tour-themed tournaments enhance our free-to-play Zynga Poker social casino experience and bring the most premier name in the sport of poker directly into the player’s hands. We are thrilled to invite the World Poker Tour into our virtual world to create an even more authentic and immersive experience that players will love.” If you need Buy Zynga Chips, you can visit our site 5mmo.com.

Users can compete at traditional nine-person tables, or against five others in a faster tournament mode, in what Zynga has said is its largest ever in-game partnership. The WPT-branded offering will be expanded further with new competitive modes to be added in future. World Poker Tour chief executive Adam Pliska said he was thrilled to see the branded tournaments go live, describing it as the latest step in a “transformational” partnership. He said the tournaments would allow Zynga Poker players the opportunity to “experience the true feeling of competing on the global World Poker Tour stage.”

The launch of WPT-themed tournaments on Zynga comes during an upswing for the 11-year-old poker app. In the second quarter of 2018, Zynga Poker mobile revenue was up 19 percent year-over-year and mobile bookings for the game were up 13 percent year-over-year, according to the company. Revenue of nearly $38 million was up more than 10 percent compared to Q2 of 2017.
