How To Use Flat Screen Printing Machine Factory

    1. Complex design
Not only production factors such as run length and lead time determine your choice. Of course, the design at hand also plays an important role in the decision between open rotary printer and textile digital printing.

The reason is that not all designs can be printed by any type of printing. Complex designs with many different colors (even photos in prints), or designs that repeat for a long time cannot use rotary printing. Therefore, only flat screen printing or digital printing is possible. Flat screen printing does not have many cost advantages compared with rotary digital printing, so the possibility of digital as a solution to outperform flat screen printing is very high.

    1. Jewelry color and burnout printing
The reverse is also true: digital textile printing also has design limitations. For example, truly shiny gold and other so-called "jewelry colors" can only be made by rotary screen printing. Digital textile printing can only photo-simulate these colors, but they will never shine like real jewelry.

The same applies to burn-out printing, which is a special printing technique in which a silk screen prints a design with a special chemical substance on the fabric. The post-treatment burns off part of the fabric to form a translucent fabric. This special chemical cannot be ejected through the inkjet head because it will permanently damage the inkjet head. The nickel mesh can withstand these chemicals. Likewise, if your company needs to print these designs, then your choice is simple. For jewelry color and burn-in printing, digital textile printing is not an option.

    1. Light color, dark background
Another factor in the design type will immediately determine your choice, when you have to print a light color on a dark background. Almost all commercially available digital textile printers use water-based non-opaque ink, so the lightest color they can print is the color of the fabric. There are some pigment printers that can print on black fabric by first laying a layer of opaque white ink, but the cost per square meter of this printing makes it impossible for large-size printing and/or long-run printing. Usually, these prints will never achieve the brilliance of, for example, reactive printing.

The final challenge of digital textile printing is printing, a large area printing of one color. Consistency is the key here. As digital printers build images from lines that appear in time, every small disturbance of these lines becomes visible and disrupts uniformity. In rotary printing, this is not a problem, as long as the screen engraving is even.

    1. Customer's wishes and requirements
In points 1 to 5, we cover the production factors and design factors of your printing process. However, the printing order is not as black and white as some of the key points show. Some designs may be more suitable for rotary screen printing, and a shorter run length may push you to digital textile printing, but what if the customer has a specific desire?

If customers or customers are particularly interested in digital textile printing, but are accustomed to the price of rotary screen printing, it may trigger discussion. Hope the previous points can help you explain to your customers why one is much more expensive than the other, and why the other might be a better choice.

Having said that, the customer is king. As a printing company, your job and responsibility is to provide the best advice possible, but if a customer requires a certain type of printing, it is always possible to comply. Please note that there may be certain restrictions (solutions, delivery times, etc.) and familiarize customers with these restrictions. You will assume your own responsibilities, but the choice ultimately depends on the customer's needs.

    1. Repeat order
The last determining factor is also related to the specific order wishes. Imagine the following situation: You print 3,000 meters digitally, and the final product is a huge success for your customers. Now, a new printing is required, this time a total of 10,000 meters is required. In point 1, you may have read that it is always cheaper to print more than 5,000 meters using rotary screen printing.

The cheapest and most effective method is to use rotary screen printing for new printing. However, the first run is digitally printed, and of course you want the next run to be almost the same as the original product. What to do now?

Fortunately, Flat Screen Printing Machine Factory has some methods to ensure that the match between rotary screen printing and textile digital printing is as good as possible. This brings us back to the original problem of combining the two types of printing. If you have two types of printing in your production process, can you switch between repeated orders?
